Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program

I’ve just posted a link and short introduction to the Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program on the this site. There is a downloadable PDF file for the whole program on that page as well.

It’s a non-competitive, optional program for earning extra achievements. The belt loops tend to be three fairly easy requirements that usually correspond to something your family, den, or pack may be doing anyway (baseball, for instance). The pins are more advanced study in that particular area.

Baseball Belt Loops

Cub Scout Baseball Belt LoopFor those Cub Scouts who have already earned their next patch, are involved in baseball, and are looking to earn something else before summer arrives, you can easily earn your Baseball Belt loop. Here’s a link that explains the requirement for the baseball belt loop.

Akelas: For the first part of the belt loop, have your Scout tell you as much as he knows about the game, and then ask him a few questions. Since most of them have been practicing for baseball and have already had some games, they will have earned their belt loop.

Den 1: let me know if you do this, so I can place an order for the right number of belt loops before the last pack meeting.

Have Fun!

Den 1 Meeting, May 21, 2007

Den 1 Wolf Cub Scouts will be meeting tomorrow night, Monday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. at our house (the Gagnon’s). We will have a scavenger hunt around our house (weather permitting - we hope!) otherwise it will be indoors. We will also have a game.

Please bring Wolf books, as I really need to check off advancement progress for my records and to see where we all need help. I just got an email from Larry Nash saying the last pack meeting before summer is June 14 at 5:30 at Pine Tree, and it is the advancement ceremony, so we should all be done by then!

Thanks,
Matt

Camp Carpenter

Deadline for money to be sent in is May 15th for both the weekend and weeklong camping.

Spring Roundup Pack Meeting

We will hold our Spring Roundup to bring more kids into the pack on June 14th with our last regular Pack meeting. We will give out advancement awards and a cookout. The meeting starts at 5:30 at Pine Tree. Each den should bring something for the pack to eat. We will probably also hold a kickball game to keep the kids entertained. The pack will provide the hamburg, hot dogs, and rolls. Deadlines for badges and advancement are do at the end of this month.

  • Tigers will bring drinks and cups
  • Den 6 will bring finger desserts
  • Wolves will bring salads (fruit, vegetable, macaroni, potato, etc.)
